New Zealand Biking Trip

A group of 19 Hikanbykers went on a biking trip to New Zealand's beautiful North Island March 2-12, 2005.  Carolyn Mason was the intrepid leader of the group (which she likened to "herding cats").  Thanks to our tour company, Pedaltours, we stayed in fabulous hotels, ate sumptuous meals and drank lots of fine wine--and oh yes, we also did a lot of cycling.  All told, there were over 350 miles of cycling, many of them quite hilly, but no one except our youngest participant--Peggy Holt's son Kurt, rode them all (and then some!).  It was, without a doubt, one of the best bike trips we have taken.  Stay tuned for a possible South Island bike trip next year.    Joan Friedman
