Hikanbyke Annual Livermore
Mini-Death Ride - Since 1996!
(Scroll down for photos)
THIRTY-ONE riders jumped on their bikes and were
treated to a fantastic ride through the Livermore Hills!! As usual,
we had a spectacular November day for the Mini-Death Ride! The air
was super clear, making for beautiful views and vistas for all who
ventured to do this ride. As usual, there were several choices for
all levels of riders. The ride took in Seven Passes - Del Valle Pass
- up and down for two passes, Mines Road Pass, Tesla Road Pass,
Cross Road Pass, Patterson Pass Road Pass, Flynn Road Pass. Of the
31 riders, 10 did ALL SEVEN PASSES!! This is a record. Tom
volunteered to give up his $1.98 medal to another 7-pass rider so
they wouldn't go home empty handed. Next time, we will purchase more
medals! We only needed one or two medals for last year.
This year we invited the Valley Spokesman to join us; and join us
they did - they were in the majority between the two clubs. Though
some of us belong to both clubs. They brought lots of fun and good
sportsmanship to the group. Many of them earned the 7-Pass medal. We
also had a couple of single friends from the Lab, that are friends
of Tom, join in and win medals.
But of course, we ALL were awarded the "medal of good friendship and
participation" by just having done this ride.
With great patience from all the riders, we will be sending each of
them a great group photo - imagine, 31 riders all dressed in their
bike colors and looking very refreshed BEFORE the ride! (see it
here, online).
Think about joining us for next year. The ride will revert back to
the Sunday BEFORE Thanksgiving. Reminder, no one will be turned away
- there is something for everyone. |
